Argentaffin cells or Kultschitzsky cells occur normally in the mucosa of the intestines, from the stomach to the large bowel. Occasionally, they give rise to tumors known as "carcinoid" tumors which have a characteristic yellow color. These tumors are most common in the distal one-third of the appendix where they generally lead to secondary appendicitis.

CONTENTS: Brentamine Fast Red B, Lithium Carbonate, Hematoxylin, Citric Acid, Sodium Iodate, Potassium Alum

These solutions are made from certified dyes (when applicable).

FOR IN VITRO DIAGNOSTIC USE ONLY.

RECOMMENDED PROCEDURE: Working Solution: Mix 5.0 ml of Sol. I with 2.0 ml of Sol. II. Incubate for 6 - 8 minutes at 40C. Deparaffinize section and hydrate to distilled water. Use working solution at 40C for 40 - 60 seconds. Sol. III - 3 minutes. Blue in warm tap water - 5 minutes. Rinse in 95% ethanol, 2 changes each. Dehydrate rapidly in absolute ethanol, then clear in xylene, 2 changes each.

RESULTS: Argentaffin granules - rust red; background - yellow; nuclei - blue.
